Barrel Services

Due to the number of barrel brokers now saturating the market with their offerings, we have decided to quit stocking barrel blanks. We recognize there is such high volume of barrel blanks available to the public now that we feel our customers can obtain a barrel blank in a timely fashion at a reasonable cost which assists the customer in controlling their project needs and desires.

We will be happy to finish out any manufacture’s blank or modify any barrel you send us, but we will no longer be ordering or stocking blanks.  As such, we request customers wanting us to make them a barrel will be directed to order their blank from the barrel broker or manufacturer of their choosing and have it shipped to us to be finished out. We can assist with questions in regards to your needs prior to ordering and even suggest a few different outlets for the purchase.
 

The main reason for this change is because it will significantly decrease the wait time for you, our customer.  It is much faster and easier for the barrel maker/broker to fill an order for one barrel than it is for 50-60 barrels in multiple calibers and twist rates. 
The discounts that were extended to us and passed on to our customers due to high volume stocking now seem to almost be equated by others in the barrel brokering market.  We feel the shorter wait times and equated investment coupled with the quality work from SSS with make our customers quite happy with their purchase.

This price is to thread, chamber, crown with your choice of a bead blast or 320 grit polished finish. 

ADDITIONAL BARREL SERVICES

We can turn your barrel on a straight taper to any muzzle diameter you would like.  Factory Savage barrel contours are as follows:

Sporter = 0.550" @ muzzle
Heavy Sporter = 0.600" @ muzzle
Predator = 0.720" @ muzzle
Varmint = 0.820" @ muzzle
Target = 1.00" @ muzzle

We manufacture and install our own muzzle brakes.  They are symmetrical designed with 30 radial holes and 6 linear holes for sound control.  On most varmint calibers the reduction is approximately 60%.  Most people can't tell where the barrel ends and the brake begins.  Price includes installation.

We normally cut 6 flutes.  Cuts are .100" deep and .250" wide.  Reduction in weight is approximately 1/10oz. per inch of flute. (i.e. 6 x 1/10 x 18" = 10.8oz. reduction)

We can chamber your barrel for any of the cartridges listed below.  If the cartridge you desire is not listed here, or you desire a specific neck diameter other than our reamer offers, we can still finish out your barrel provided that you supply us with the appropriate reamer.  Reamers may be purchased or rented from several sources online.
